Building prototypes for insects
chirping and buzzing

Prototypes of different sensors with the supporting software solutions were built and tested by OAMK, with the aim to provide user requirements high-quality insect rearing. Suitable sensors’ solutions for intelligent crates were identified, studied and developed. The purpose of the prototypes is to monitor the critical parameters for the well-being of insects during the rearing process.

Furthermore, three intelligent crates were created, where several sensors’ elemts were inserted in each create.  The objective behind was to test sensors, which were measuring temperature, humidity, CO2, NH3 and moisture of the substrate. Hence, pre-pilot provided important information on the scale of different parameters in the insect growing environmen. Furthermore, it generated data on the usability and performance of the selected sensoring solutions, as well as the wireless communication and software solutions.
